CQR Delhi was recently chosen to provide ‘third country shipments solutions’ by one of its prestigious multinational clients. This contract is on a weekly basis for a number of months moving 10MT Solar Cell / Solar Wafers by air from China to the USA.

“We decided to call on CQR Qingdao for assistance with these shipments and as a result together we have already moved over 100MT and this is going to continue for the next few months. Together with S.F. Systems (Qingdao) Ltd, we have been able to provide a solution that only the multinationals could have offered,”explained Three Aces Global Director, Pankaj Agarwal.

Well done to CQR Delhi on initiating such a great partnership!

Prior planning prevents poor performance

Over the past few months, Conqueror’s exclusive agent in Athens, has been making a number of road transportations of steel cargo to be used in construction at Bad Bentheim in the north of Germany; 36 in fact.

The dimensions were 14.00m X 3.50m X 4.00m with an average weight of 21.5 tons each. “To date our team has moved a total of 650 tons of steel over land on low bed – heavy duty trailers,” explained Vlasis Maragos, Operations Manager.

C.V.M.’s motto is ‘We can visualize your movements,’ meaning that have the ability to provide a smooth and stress-free door to door service for its clients and partners. These steel loadings in particular needed careful forethought, planning and coordination to ensure the correct transport permits for Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, and Germany as well as escort cars.

As the well-known phrase says, “’Prior planning prevents poor performance’, and this is what every member of our team understands and works by,” emphasized Vlasis.

CQR Mumbai strikes gold!

CQR Mumbai,  has literally landed on a gold mine in terms of a group of specialized shipments it has been handling recently

The Modern Cargo team was chosen by global gold exporter Udaji International to move two Volvo Gold Excavators from the port of Mumbai to Tema in Ghana for use in the countries mines.

As I’m sure you can imagine, anything which is used for digging for gold is not going to be small! Each machine weighed 30 MT with dimensions of 34.44 by 10.46 by 11.25 feet (L W H).

This first shipment of two excavators was a trial run for the team so it really was all hands on deck to ensure success in securing the shipping of a further 16 such machines from Mumbai and 3 from Chennai.

After much planning and consultation, the shipping got underway and CQR Mumbai arranged transportation from the shipper’s door to the port of Mumbai on flat-bed trailers and then driven onto the Ro-Ro vessel.

With this Modern Cargo Services has further consolidated its position in the market as reliable service provider not only for general cargo shipments but also for the movement of specialized cargo.

Shipping hazardous cargo

Paperwork is probably the least favourite yet the most important part of shipping dangerous/hazardous goods and as a result, many forwarders shy away from them. This week, we are featuring two of our members who regularly make such shipments and whose teams thrive on the need for accuracy and time management.

logistics companies and suppliers
logistics companies and suppliers

One of those companies is CQR Kandla. Every week, they ship 10-15 containers of chemicals on behalf of M/s. Industrial Solvent Pvt Ltd from Mundra to cities in every corner of the world.

During the week we spoke with them, the team were handling various chemicals including Menthol, Toluene, Acetone, Hexane, Glycol and Ether EB packed in drums and liquid form. These were packed into a 20′ GP /40′ DC / 40′ Reefer / 20′ ISO tank and carried by CMA, MSC Evergreen, Zim and OSL. The Kandla team were responsible for all packing and stuffing.

When asked what one of the main challenges was of handling these shipments, Branch Manager, Ms Sheeja, had this to say, “The biggest challenge is dealing with shipping lines for DG approvals and of course the documentation process and the labelling of the chemicals. Thankfully, with these shipments being a weekly event, our team have become experts at this!”

Our second member to frequently ship non-hazardous chemicals is CQR Denmark. They ship additives to oil and gas producing countries around the Black and Caspian Seas. Their most recent shipment travelled from Rotterdam to Klaipeda by sea and then onward by truck with container chassis to Novorossiysk.

4 X 20′ ISO tank containers / capacity 24,000L / weight net 18-18.5 ton

As if the completion of all the import and export documentation wasn’t challenging enough to the time management of this shipment, Russia has introduced a new customs guarantee, whereby the TIR convention between itself and Belarus was cancelled. Nevertheless, this did not hamper the team as the shipment arrived intact and on time. They retain their status as ‘experts’ in this field.

Interview with CQR Dalian

Balance Wang, General Manager and owner of our member in Dalian, recently chatted with the CQR team about the company and how it has changed in the ten years since its foundation. He also let us in on his most memorable shipments and what the next 10 years hold for the company.

Q. Tell us a little about your company.

A. Dalian Uniline Shipping was founded 10 years ago and is approved and registered by China’s economic and trade commission NVOCC (MOC-NV05344). Our head office is in Dalian and this is the office we hold in Conqueror, but we also have branches in the main ports in China such as Tianjin, Shanghai, Qingdao, Haerbin. I am extremely fortunate to have a professional team who are capable of providing door to door services for DDP and DDU shipments including loading and customs.

Q. Does your company specialise in any particular kind of shipment?

A. China ranks in the top 5 countries globally for food exports and so consequently a one-stop-shop export service for perishables is big business for us. In addition, we are also experienced in exporting large machines and minerals.

Q. What would be Dalian’s most memorable shipment to date?

A. Well there have been many over the past decade but if I have to choose, it would be a 5000ton end-end shipment of soybeans to Korea in just 7 days. We successfully completed the seeming impossible job and it certainly proved our team’s ability to liaise and cooperate well.

Q. Next year, the company will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. Over the past decade, what has been your proudest moment as manager?

A. I think my proudest moment is now, as I look back over the past decade and see the branches we have established, our quick but yet stable business expansion and the professional staff which have joined us to make Dalian even stronger. We have also gradually developed lasting business partnerships with overseas agents.

Q. Where do you see Dalian Uniline Shipping in another 10 years?

A. We should see a significant increase in the volume of business the company is handling and thanks to the strengthening of international cooperation, we should have even more partnerships worldwide. I also hope that over the next decade our company will be ranked in the top 10 international logistics companies in the industry.

Q. Both you and Coco attended this year’s annual meeting. How useful was it to meet members face to face in terms of building business relationships?

A. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for the conference. We met and got to know many agents which we now consider partners. It was a great opportunity to learn about the different services they can provide us with and how we can help each other in our mutual goal of expanding our businesses.

Q. Do you plan on attending the 3rd Annual Conqueror Meeting in Kuala Lumpur next year?

A. Yes, we will be there so that we can get to know more agents and increase our cooperation with other members.

We are thrilled to hear Balance and Coco will be attending next year’s annual meeting. They certainly understand the benefits it can bring their business.
